Janeen Hill, Assessor

Welcome to the Town of Evans Assessor's page. My name is Jeneen Hill, and as the town assessor, I am a local government official who estimates the value of real property within a city, town, or village's boundaries. Our department then takes this value and converts it into an "assessment," which is one component in the computation of real property tax bills.

My approach is very simple: I treat every person with respect and compassion, and work diligently to find a solution to their problem. I am always looking for ways by which I can improve service to the Town of Evans residents. The assessor's office can be reached at (716) 549-5752 or by emailing me at  For more info on assessments and code enforcement, please click Read More below.

Assessment Home Improvements

Assessment means a determination made by the assessor of the valuation of real property (buildings and land), including the valuation of exempt real property and whether or not the real property is subject to taxation or special ad valorem levies.

Changes and improvements to your property may increase it's assessment value. Even though it will result in a slight increase in your assessment, you may want to make extensive improvements for your own comfort and a better resale value,  The following kind of improvements could bring a higher assessment.

  • Creating any additional living space
  • Change from single to multiple family use
  • New basement area
  • New rooms finished in attic
  • Complete modernization and conversions
  • Forced air, hot water, or other automatic heating plant replacing stoves (such as found in seasonal dwellings).
  • Extra bedroom, bathroom, fireplace, covered porches, and garages where none existed
  • Structural changes
  • In-ground swimming pools

Please also see the Homeowner's Guide to Unassessed Home Improvements, for a list of improvements that will not have bearing on your assessment.
